This is the Croatia we dreamed of. Yesterday morning we woke up to beautiful skies and rode to the ferry that would transport us to the Island of Cres, Croatia. From the moment we got off the ferry we have been surrounded by beautiful mediteranean landscape and amazing beautiful blue ocean. It seems that no matter what direction you look there is something that takes your breath away.
We have spent the last two nights staying in a nice little Sobe (room for rent) in the village of Cres on the island of Cres. Today we slept in until almost 10:00! We couldn't believe it when we finally woke up and looked at the clock. We went for a short bike ride around the bay and found a beautiful pebble beach where we spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon relaxing in the warm sun. The village is very lovely and since we are at the end of the busy season it is not overly crowded. After a relaxing day at the beach we stopped in a cafe for fried calamari and a cold glass of white wine. Does it get any better than this?
Tomorrow we are back on the bikes and headed further south to the end of Cres Island where we are told there is a bridge that we can cross to the island of Losinj. Losinj is a very small island, only 15km long but we've been told that it has a lovely little village at its southern end that is a must see. So that is our destination tomorrow. It looks to be about a 45mile ride but will require a lot of climbing. But the views of the ocean as we climb to the top of these islands is so incredible it doesn't even feel like work.
