Pula, Croatia

Hello from Croatia,

We have been here for two days now and are at the bottom of the Istria pennisula. So far we have mixed feelings about this country. The Adriatic sea is still beautiful but we feel like we are in a third world country. It is definitely different than anywhere else we have been in Europe. The roads are very narrow and the Croatian's drive like maniacs, and there aren't very many roads to even choose from. We did go thru some beautiful little towns along the sea yesterday but last night we spent in Pula. We heard they had a colliseum that was still intact so we wanted to see it. We saw it and then tried to find lodgeing in this large poor rundown town! We ended up finding a nice hotel slightly out of town on the sea just before dark!

Today, we are going to try to get to a town to catch a ferry across to the island of Cres. We are trying to determine what road to take as we are only seeing busy roads at this point. Wish us luck today on our journey!!!

Hopefully we will have better roads and a better outlook on Croatia as the days go by.

Our goal is to explore the Islands of Cres and Krk, then back to the coast down to a city called Zadar where we will catch an overnight ferry to Italy.
